I had to design book jackets for three books by a certain author. I was lucky to get Chuck Palahniuk as I am familiar with some of his books from watching the films. I brainstormed ideas and chose objects that represented the themes of the books without being too obvious. I thought this would create covers which aren't boring or predictable. I positioned the titles, author's name and images in the same place on each book to make them a set rather than three individual books.

Unit 5 - Contextual Influences
I researched every art movement from the 1800s to present day and created a time line with examples to show how the movements progressed from one to the next. From my research I also chose which movement I thought was the most influential and wrote an essay explaining why. I used this essay to create a DPS to go in a magazine.
NCFE Digital Imaging
I called my skateboarding brand 'Rebelle' because it is aimed at females rebelling against the stereotype that only males do sport. I tried to keep the logo as simple as possible so that it is easily recognised when enlarged or scaled down. I applied my logo to a skateboard, bag and T-Shirt because these are items a skater would wear or use.
NCFE Construction Crafts
I was shown how to make different kinds of books, bags and boxes and I used these skills to make one of each following a theme. To decide the theme, I picked a letter out of a hat, ‘U’, and chose the word ‘unusual’. I collected different materials that suited this theme, such as holographic paper and corrugated card. I decided to make each item a shape not usually associated with it, such as a round bag rather than square or rectangle.
Unit 12 - Computers in Art and Design
I was given the design company, 'Why Not Associates', to create a DPS and front cover for 'flock' magazine. It was difficult at first because they don't have a particular style, but I selected different elements of their work and applied them to ordinary images. I created two DPS' because it would have looked too crowded on one.
Unit 1 - Visual Recording
Each week I had to fill a page of my journal with my interpretation of a sticker. I tested different ideas on layout sheets before putting my best idea in my journal. I used lots of different materials and different methods of applying them to paper. I used brown paper and string to cover my journal.
Unit 39 - Typographic Design
I was given five words to express only using the word in Helvetica and within the constraints of a box. I was allowed to move the letters, repeat letters or words and change the sizes but not use images. I think I have expressed these words quite well.
